EMS synthi 100 building blocks

Made by

Anton Friisgaard

Recorded on Iannis Xenakis’ original EMS Synthi 100 at the Athens Conservatoire, Anton Friisgaard presents a collection of highly malleable building blocks drawn from one of the world’s rarest synthesizers. Drifting analogue oscillators, ring modulation, spring reverb, and warm, saturated amplifiers shape rhythm loops, drum one-shots, harmonies, effects, and bass sounds made to be pitched, layered, and transformed with the S4.

Anton Friisgaard is an electronic musician and composer whose work brings acoustic and electronic sound worlds together. His practice spans classical collaborations, tape-loop experiments, and Teratai Åkande, a six-year project created with Balinese gamelan musicians. He has released music through Flau, Janushoved, Vaagner, and Stroom, and performed at Roskilde Festival, Intonal, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and ALICE.

Recorded by Anton Friisgaard, Oliver Torr, and Oscar Friisgaard.
