S4 OS 2.0 is a major update to the S4 sculpting sampler, revisiting the foundation of the instrument and bringing our original vision into sharper focus.

Built around a full rewrite of the core engine, OS 2.0 opens new ways to perform, shape, and move through sound. The update introduces global macro controls, scenes, varispeed recording, sample playback directly from internal storage, and new dynamic modulation options. Each addition is designed to keep exploration immediate, expressive, and close to the moment.

Perform

Create global macros that control multiple parameters at once.

Map any parameter to eight performance knobs and four punch-in effect buttons, making it possible to shape detailed changes with a single gesture. Perform turns the surface of S4 into a more direct and expressive space for movement, variation, and play.

Scene

Save and launch parameter and sample snapshots instantly.

Scenes let you capture full machine states, build variations, and swap samples on the fly. Each project can hold up to 128 scenes, controllable directly on the instrument or via MIDI Program Change.

Temp

Temp adds temporary control across all parameters.

When Temp is enabled, S4 stores the initial state and returns to it as soon as the control is released. It gives you a way to reach into a sound, push it somewhere new, and snap back in the moment.

Disc

Disc is a new playback device that streams audio directly from internal storage.

It is made for long loops, stems, field recordings, and evolving material, with playback limited only by available storage capacity.

Follow

Follow introduces a new modulation source: an envelope follower.

Use track output or input signals to modulate parameters in real time, allowing sounds to shape one another as part of the performance.

Enhancements

OS 2.0 also introduces device, track, and scene copy, along with an enhanced Tape device featuring varispeed recording.

The interface has received a broad overhaul, and many existing devices have been refined with new features and workflow improvements.
